CLEVELAND ó Mayor Jim Brown asked a resident who raised concerns about the town’s Web site to bring a list of suggestions on improving it to the next Board of Commissioners meeting.
“You can be as elaborate or as concise as you want to be on that,” Brown told Staci Maher of Bridle Path Farm Road.
Maher, a real estate agent who moved to the town a year ago, had asked to be put on the agenda for Monday night’s meeting to discuss the Cleveland Web site. “It looks real good,” she said at the meeting, “but it doesn’t do anything.”
The Web site could be more interactive, she said, with maps and zoning information that would help real estate agents and citizens, business owners and prospective business owners.
Information on local businesses could also be included, she said, as well as a forum so town residents could respond to specific issues going on in Cleveland.
“My question to you,” Maher said, “is do you need help with the Web site, because I would be more than happy to do it?”
Before hearing that Maher would be on the agenda, Commissioner Mary Frank “Frankie” Fleming-Adkins said she had called the man who set up the Web site about adding to it. He’s ready and willing, she said, and referred her to some Web sites of other towns to check for ideas.
Fleming-Adkins said she doesn’t think town commissioners realized the possibilities of the Web site when they first started it.
Brown said the town would take Maher’s suggestions to the Web site creator and see what he can do to enhance it.
When it comes to the Web site, Fleming-Adkins said, “you’re only limited by your imagination.”
Brown thanked Maher for her willingness to help with the Web site.
“I like Cleveland,” she said. “It won’t be the last time you hear from me.”
