LEXINGTON — Salisbury’s boys golf team shot 318 to win the 18-hole CCC Championship match at Sapona on Monday.

John McCoy shot 1-over 72 to lead the Hornets.

“The golf course was set up extremely tough,” Salisbury coach Josh Brincefield said. “Pins were crazy, so John’s 72 was a phenomenal round. I was not surprised the rest of our guys had scores higher than usual.”

Warren Fesperman shot 79. Jackson Sparger shot 82. Bo Brincefield and Jacob Tainor shot 85s.

“I saw a lot of three putts,” Coach Brincefield said. “We’ll be practicing putting the rest of the week.”

McCoy, Fesperman, Sparger and Brincefield were the CCC’s top four golfers for the season, while Trainor was seventh.

Next for the Hornets is the 2A Midwest Regional. It will be played at the Country Club of Salisbury on Monday, starting at 9 a.m.
