SALISBURY — Abby Connolly’s first-half goal lifted East Davidson to a 1-0 Central Carolina Conference victory against Salisbury on Wednesday.

“Tough contest, just a rough week for us,” Salisbury coach Matt Parrish said. “We’ve battled a shortened roster, injuries, illness and a myriad of additional setbacks over the last three weeks. We’ve continued to play hard. Sometimes things bog down with girls in new positions, but the heart and hustle is still there. Cora Wymbs, Liz Escobar, Meredith Williams and Maddie Crabb played heavy minutes in the midfield and battled all night.”

East Davidson improved to 10-5 overall and 6-2 in the CCC in a spirited battle for second place behind West Davidson.

Salisbury is 8-4-2 and 6-2-1.

“We need to find a way to get some momentum back and make a playoff push the last two weeks,”Parrish said.

Senior Night is Monday. The Hornets will take on Lexington and will celebrate the careers of seniors Stella Koontz, Tiffany Huerta and Brianna Figueroa.
