College softball roundup: Stoner, Addison having strong freshman seasons

Freshman Chloee Stoner (North Rowan) has been one of the top players for Guilford.

Stoner is batting .367 with team-leading totals of 44 hits and 28 runs scored in 35 games.

Freshman Lonna Addison (Carson) has handled most of the pitching for Lees-McRae.

Addison is 14-11 in the circle, plus three saves. She’s struck out 234 batters in 167 2/3 innings and has a 2.76 ERA.

Addison has helped out at the plate with four homers, 18 RBIs and a .317 batting average in 82 at-bats.

Catawba’s Kary Hales (Carson) had had a huge season at the plate.

She’s batting .376 with nine homers, 13 doubles, 41 runs scored and 51 RBIs. She’s fifth in the SAC in RBIs.

Catawba starts play in the SAC Tournament at Wingate on Friday.

Chowan’s McKenzie Misenheimer (East Rowan) is batting .303 in 39 games. She’s hit two homers and eight doubles and leads the Hawks with 24 runs scored

East Tennessee State’s Whitley Armott (West Rowan) has pitched in 12 games and has a 4-4 record.

UNC Wilmington’s Mary Sobataka (West Rowan) is batting .236 with eight doubles, three homers and three triples. She leads the Seahawks in walks (17) and RBIs (25).

Taylor Walton (West Rowan) has gotten some chances to swing in the last week or so for Quinnipiac and has done well — 5-for-13 — with two doubles and two RBIs.

Freshman Karsen Simpson (West Rowan) played in 24 games as a freshman for Emory & Henry and batted .341 with two homers and nine RBIs.
