High school boys golf: Hornets romp; NWC hot in SPC match at Rolling Hills

SALISBURY — Salisbury’s boys golf team continued to roll in the Central Carolina Conference with a win on Monday at Corbin Hills.

Salisbury shot 154 for a 15-stroke victory.

John McCoy shot 35 to lead the Hornets. Other scorers were Jackson Sparger (38), Bo Brincefield (39) and Warren Fesperman (42).

Other team scores were West Davidson (169), East Davidson (169), South Davidson (190), Lexington (202) and North Rowan (231).

SALISBURY —  Northwest Cabarrus shot a sizzling 142 to win Monday’s South Piedmont Conference golf match held at Rolling Hills.

South Carolina commit Talan Harrison, a junior, shot 7-under 29 to lead the Trojans. UNC Wilimington recruit Cooper Burris shot 33.

The other scorers for the Trojans were Logan Swanger and Chase Roberts with 40s.

East Rowan shot 150 for second place.

East’s Landon Merrell and Jaden Sprinkle shot 2-under 34s. Brady McIntyre shot 40, while Mason Mainville shot 42.

West Rowan tied for third with Lake Norman Charter at 160.

Tyler Kepley shot 37 to lead the Falcons. Brody Tucker shot 39. The other West scorers were Samuel Faulkner (41) and Gage Ludwick (43).

Andon McCullough’s 43 was the best score for Carson.

South was led by Hunter Alexander’s 47.

Robinson’s Ben Darnell had a great round with a 34.

Other team scores were Robinson (177), Carson (180), South Rowan (196) and Concord (209).
