High school track: Hornets win meet

DENTON —  Salisbury’s boys easily won a Central Carolina Conference meet at South Davidson, that also included Thomasville.

With 5-3-2-1 scoring, the Hornets totaled 83 points in Friday’s meet. South Davidson did well in the distance events for 40 points. Thomasville did well in the throws.

Salisbury’s Jamla Rule won the 200 (23.4) and 400 (51.0). The Hornets were 1-2 in both events.

Tyree Brown won the hurdling events, taking the 11o in 19.3 seconds and the 300 in 47.0.

Ethan Griffin had a sweep in the jumps, winning the long jump (18-8), triple jump (39-9) and tying for first in the high jump with teammate David Shankle.

A number of events weren’t contested.

Only a handful of events were contested in the girls meet.

Salisbury scored 43 points to Thomasville’s 16. The host team did not have any entries.

Salisbury’s Tai’lah Ward won the 100 (13.3) and led a 1-2-3-4 finish in the event by the Hornets.

Xaniyah Price won the discus (82-60).

Alyrica Abel won the long jump (14-2).
