SALISBURY — One man has been arrested and police have warrants for another man after a neighbor reportedly called and said that she noticed a stolen golf cart at a house.

According to a Rowan County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, deputies responded to a home in the 200 block of Paige Drive at approximately 11 a.m. on Monday after a neighbor called and said that she noticed a golf cart she had reported as stolen being driven around the property. The neighbor told deputies that the golf carts looked as if they were being repainted and stripped for parts.

At the home, deputies reportedly spoke to the residents, reportedly discovering that there were warrants for the arrest of the men.

Daniel Monroe Flowers, 46, was arrested and served with warrants for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and felony breaking and entering into a building. Flowers was also charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle after the deputies discovered that a side-by-side ATV he was riding had been reported as stolen, according to the spokesperson.

Another neighbor called communications and said that he had seen a man run from the home in the 200 block of Paige Drive into a shed on a neighboring property. Deputies reportedly searched that shed after the owner requested them to and found nothing.

While searching the area, the deputies found one of the golf carts that had been reported as stolen and a K-9 unit led the deputies to a home in the 400 block of Paige Drive, where they found and arrested 49-year-old Grover Todd Sartain. Sartain allegedly told the deputies that he had brought both the ATV and the golf cart to the home Flowers was in.

While deputies transported Sartain to the Rowan County Magistrate’s Office, he said that he was experiencing chest pain. The deputies transported Sartain to the hospital before returning to the magistrate’s office and taking out an arrest warrant for the charge of possession of a stolen vehicle. Sartain had not been arrested as of Wednesday morning.

Flowers was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center and given a $10,000 bond.
