High school softball roundup: East, West roll again

GRANITE QUARRY — Madi Tigert had four hits, including two home runs, as East Rowan won 11-1 against Carson in Tuesday’s South Piedmont Conference game.

East took a 4-0 lead in the first inning and ended the game early with a five-run sixth for the 10-run rule.

The Mustangs (8-1, 8-0) had 13 hits, and nine different players scored.

Lily Kluttz had two hits, including a homer.

Chloe Shank and Eleni Miller had doubles.

Camryn Perkins, Miller and Tigert pitched two innings each.

Emma Woodlief and Caroline Snow had hits for Carson (1–9, 1-5). Alyssa Benner scored the run.

LANDIS — West Rowan scored nine runs in the first inning and rolled 12-2 in five innings against South Rowan in Tuesday’s South Piedmont Conference game.

Emma Clarke was walked intentionally to start the game and stole second to trigger the big inning. The Falcons (6-4, 4-1) batted around, and Clarke had a two-run single to cap the inning.

Reese Poole had three hits for the second straight game, including two doubles. She drove in three runs.

Winning pitcher Arabelle Shulenberger had two hits and three RBIs. Clarke was 2-for-2 with two walks. Lacey Houghton had two hits, including a double.

Shulenberger struck out three and allowed seven hits.

Danica Krieg had two hits for the Raiders (4-6-1, 4-4). Krieg and Carmen Thomas had RBIs.

SPENCER — West Davidson scored 16 runs in the first inning and beat North Rowan 16-0 in a three-inning Central Carolina Conference game.

Mylee Friedberg pitched a one-hitter for the Green Dragons (7-5, 5-0). Breanna Payne homered against the Cavaliers (0-4, 0-3).
