College softball: Catawba bats are smoking, at LMU on Sunday

HARROGATE, Tenn. — Catawba out-slugged Tusculum in a Wednesday doubleheader — 9-8 and 16-9 — and will look to keep the bats hot in a Sunday South Atlantic Conference doubleheader at Lincoln Memorial that will start at 2 p.m..

Kary Hales had a two-run double in the eighth inning that proved decisive in the first game on Wednesday. It was the third double of the game for Hales, who also was the winning pitcher in relief for the Indians (16-14, 4-2).

In the second game against Tusculum, Hales, Brianna Herring, Madison Taylor and  Brianna Gallagher hit home runs for the Indians, who pounded out 21 hits.

Riley Tucker had four hits and was the winning pitcher in relief.
