SALISBURY — Police are investigating after a man reported his tires being slashed and his car window being shot into on Friday.

Officers responded to a hotel on East Innes Street to a shots fired call at approximately 1:15 a.m. on Friday, a spokesperson for the Salisbury Police Department said. There, they found the victim outside.

The victim said that he was in his hotel room when he heard gunshots, according to the spokesperson. When he went outside to check on the sound, he found his car with all four tires slashed and the driver’s side window shot out.

While talking to the victim, officers noticed that the man was from Georgia. When questioned about why he was in Salisbury, the man said he was meeting a woman for a date, but that they only had dinner together, the spokesperson said. While officers were searching the area for evidence, the woman’s sister showed up. The sister called the victim by his first name and called the woman on her phone, at which point the sister came out of the hotel.
