Man dies after hit-and-run on West Horah Street

SALISBURY — A Salisbury man is dead after being struck Friday night by a car that fled the scene of the crash on West Horah Street.

Larry E. Barber, 59, was struck head-on while riding his moped on West Horah Street. In a news release, the Salisbury Police Department said the vehicle that struck Barber, believed to be a gold or silver SUV, never stopped. 

Police officers arrived at the scene at 11:37 p.m. Friday. Barber was transported to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center, where he died from his injuries at 12:06 a.m., a news release said.

Anyone with any information regarding the crash is asked to please contact the Salisbury Police Department. The SUV police are seeking is believed to have heavy front-end damage and to be missing a mirror on its driver’s side.
