Four area schools were placed on lockdown following early morning off-campus activity, said area law enforcement and school officials. The lockdowns have now been lifted.

Rowan-Salisbury School System has placed Southeast Middle, North Rowan High, North Rowan Middle and Faith Elementary on code yellow lockdown this morning.

Kannapolis Police say they are investigating a shooting in the Kannapolis area, but have said little else.
