Stone Road closing for culvert replacement

Maintenance crews will close Stone Road (State Road 2315) on Sept. 3-5 to replace a storm drain culvert that crosses under the road, according to the N.C. Department of Transportation.

The structure has failed, and storm runoff water is not passing under the road correctly.

The closure is between Rainey and Pop Basinger roads. The nearest address is 955 Stone Road.

The road will be closed only while work is in progress. DOT says the project will take three days.

The detour route will be Stone Road to U.S. 52 to South Main Street to Balfour Quarry Road to Coley Road and back to Stone Road.  A link to a map showing the detour route is below.
