The Old Time Preachers Quartet
Friendship Baptist Church, 100 Porter Road (I-85 exit 72), is hosting The Old Time Preachers Quartet Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and both Sunday services, 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Members of the Quartet will preach in each service. Dinner on the grounds Sunday.

Haircuts and Hairdos
Last year St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, 410 Hawkinstown Road, was able to serve over 80 kids as they prepared for the school year. This year on Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. St. Luke again offers Haircuts and Hair Dos along with school supplies and lunch. This event is totally free. Marcus L. Fairley is host pastor.

CONCORD — Macedonia Missionary Baptist Praise Team presents Shabach: Praise and Worship, a unique worship experience beginning at 5 p.m. on Saturday. The pre-revival service is at Macedonia, 6740 Macedonia Church Road.
The annual Homecoming and Revival begins shortly after the Shabach on Aug. 11-15.
On Sunday at 11 a.m., Rev. Nathaniel Gales Jr. will speak. The 3 p.m. service features Rev. Joshua Ellerbe, pastor of House of Shiloh Fellowship Church of Albermarle and also pastor of Poplar Springs Baptist Church of Burnsville.

Bishop Ronald Hash pastor’s anniversary
EAST SPENCER — The 26th pastor’s anniversary for Bishop Ronald and Lotis Hash will be Sunday at Love Christian Center, 102 N. Long St.
The 10 a.m. speaker is Bishop J.C. Hash, pastor of St. Peter’ World Outreach Center and Church, Winston Salem. As a pastor, inspirational speaker, motivator and author whose message challenges people to see themselves as the leaders God created them to be, Dr. J James C. Hash Sr. is a man on a mission straight from God. As senior pastor and chief executive officer of the 3,500-plus member, multi-cultural St. Peter’s Church and World Outreach Center (SPWOC) in Winston-Salem, NC, Dr. Hash, along with his wife Joyce, delivers a positive message of strength and hope, encouraging people to strive for success in every area of life—spirit, soul and body.
A graduate of Rhema Bible Training Center in Tulsa, OK, Dr. Hash holds a bachelor of Theology degree and an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Union Christian Bible Institute in Durham, NC. Dr. Hash and Joyce are the parents of four adult children and nine grandchildren.
The 4 p.m. speaker is Dr. Martha Starks, senior pastor of Word of Life Family Worship Center at 726 East Liberty St. for 40 years.
Dr. Starks is a graduate of Catawba College in Salisbury, and a Biblical Studies graduate from the Institute of Biblical Studies in Lynchburg, Virginia. She received an Honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from Union Bible In stitute in Durham, North Carolina. Active in the community, she is a member of the North Carolina Chaplaincy Association and serves on the Board of Directors for the One Church One Child Program which partners with the Rowan County Department of Social Services. Dr. Starks is also a member of the Salisbury Interdenominational Minister’s Fellowship and serves on the Board of Directors. She is the former Chairman of the Program Services Committee for the New Tomorrows program sponsored through Rowan Helping Ministries. She served for 10 years as an Associate Chaplain at Rowan Regional Medical Center and has served on various other Boards. Her radio broadcast “Victory in the Word” can be heard Monday through Friday at 10:30 a.m. on WOGR 93.3 WordNet Radio Station out of Charlotte or worldwide online at www.wordnet.org. In 1995, Dr. Starks begin a Tuesday Bible Study at 11 a.m. In 1999, the Morning Bible Study was moved to Wednesday Morning called “Mid-Day Refreshing”.

Piedmont UU Church
Rabbi Dr. Andrew Vogel Ettin will be the guest speaker Sunday at the 12:30 p.m. service at Piedmont UU Church, located at Temple Israel, 1600 Brenner Ave., across from the VA Hospital.
The theme is justice. Commitments to justice and righteousness stand at the center of Jewish ethical teachings. We learn, however, not only from precepts and parables but from experience, from negative examples as much as positive ones. Rabbi Ettin will explore some personal examples and encounters shaping his perspective on Jewish teachings about justice.
Rabbi Ettin has been the spiritual leader of Temple Israel since 1990. He is also Professor Emeritus of English at Wake Forest University and Adjunct Professor of Religion and Divinity at WFU. He was formerly a professor at Cornell University. He is committed to interfaith and interracial activities as well as women’s issues. An alumnus of Rutgers College (A.B.), Washington University (M.A., Ph.D.) and Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies (M.S.J.S.), Dr. Ettin was ordained as a rabbi by Aleph: Alliance for Jewish Renewal. He is the author of four published books in addition to numerous articles; a fifth book is in progress.

Lilly’s Chapel

‘Songs Created in His Image’
New London — NLUMC Music In Missions Concert Series present ‘Songs Created in His Image’ as performed by Noah Melton, at New London United Methodist Church, on Sunday at 4:30 p.m.
All donations received will go to the family of Alastair Parker, firefighter and first responder in Randolph County who was critically injured in a horrific car accident on June 29. As a result of his injuries, Alastair cannot return to work as an EMT with WakeMed Critical Care.

St. Luke’s Episcopal
St. Luke’s Episcopal Church will hold the next installment of its series on “Becoming Beloved Community” events on Sunda at 5 p.m. The programs are aimed at promoting racial reconciliation, healing, and justice. Organ Recital by Alden Wright
CHINA GROVE — On Sunday at 7 p.m., Salisbury native and rising senior at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY, where he studies with Nathan Laube, will present an organ recital at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 326 N. Main St. There is no charge.
Wright studied organ with Dr. Phillip Burgess 2012-2016 and piano with Diane Freeman 2008-2012. He will play works by Buxtehude, J.S. Bach, C.P.E. Bach, Karg-Elert and Maurice Duruflé.
