Rockwell man struck, killed by Amtrak train in Kannapolis
KANNAPOLIS — A 59-year-old Rockwell man was struck and killed by an Amtrak train early Thursday morning in Kannapolis.
Kannapolis city officials identified the man as Terry Ray Jeffery.
Jeffery was struck about 2:45 a.m. on the tracks about 100 feet south of the Amtrak station, located at 201 S. Main St., authorities said.
The train conductor told authorities that Jeffery was standing on the tracks with his back to the train and did not move as the train approached.
