So we all breathe relief now that the second superfluous and hopefully the last meeting on “Fame” has ended.

We should all be asking Mayor Al Heggins what was the point, especially since her legal eagle told her it was pointless.

I had intended to attend until I saw the gun and knife detection unit at the door. Al used the words “haters,” “bigots” and “racists” to describe her opposition.

Another question, what was the cost of all this? The set-up, security, building rent, etc.? Were these police not been better on the streets fighting violence, crime and gangs? Or working cold murder cases, such as the adorable 7-year-old A’yanna Allen killed in her own bedroom? They could have been working the two unsolved vandalisms of “Fame.”

I doubt Al wants these cases solved, since she could not hide the glee in her smile while on TV about them. To me, she was using this issue and the glorification resolution of the mad-dog Gillespie murders to anger, inflame, and motivate her voting blocs to re-elect her.

Am I wrong? Let her prove it by saying she is not running for re-election.

What has she done for Salisbury? Salisbury is now a mere shadow of its former greatness of the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. It’s now the town of empty buildings and vacant lots.

As for “Fame,” there were blacks who fought and served the Confederacy despite the supposed historians who poo-pooed the fact. How do they explain the inconvenient photos of blacks in Confederate uniforms? Seems they are afraid to admit this fearing their liberal universities will jerk their diplomas and degrees.

So don’t disrespect the monument that honors all Southerners, including your ancestors in the war of northern aggression and invasion.
