T-H Marine FLW Bass Fishing League to compete at High Rock

SALISBURY — The FLW Bass Fishing League tournament season will continue Saturday, June 8, with a North Carolina Division event here on High Rock Lake.
Up to 400 boaters and co-anglers will be competing for top awards of up to $8,000 and $3,000, respectively, in the one-day tournament. Takeoff will be at 6 a.m. and weigh-in will be at 2 p.m., at Tamarac Marina & Campground, 9120 Bringle Ferry Road.
High Rock Lake is expected to fish well for anglers in this early-June BFL competition. When the BFL visited last June, boater champion David Wright fished drops in 8 to 10 feet of water, keying on rocks, stumps and brush with a crankbait and shaky-head worm.
Flipping shallow bushes on the main lake with a jig has also produced in past BFL tournaments this time of year on High Rock Lake. Fans can expect to see similar patterns in play at next week’s tournament. A five-bass limit in the 22-pound range should be enough to take home the winner’s trophy.
The 2019 BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, with 128 tournaments throughout the season, five qualifying events in each division.
The top 45 boaters and co-anglers from each division, along with the five winners of the qualifying events, will advance to one of six regional tournaments where they are competing to finish in the top six, which then qualifies them for one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the BFL All-American.
The 2019 BFL All-American is being held Thursday through Saturday of this week, at the Potomac River in Marbury, Md. Top performers in the BFL can move up to the Costa FLW Series or even the FLW Tour.
