High school swimming: Salisbury, South strong in 1A/2A Central Regional

GREENSBORO — Salisbury and South Rowan swimmers did very well in the 1A/2A Central Regional held on Friday at Greensboro Aquatic Center.

Top-eight finishers qualified for the upcoming state meet.

Salisbury’s girls placed third in the team scoring.

The Hornets got two first places from Emily Knorr (200 free, 500 free) and two more from Katie Knorr (200 IM, 100 backstroke).

Salisbury’s 400 free relay and 200 medley relay teams placed second.

• Salisbury’s boys placed fourth in team scoring.

Roarke Burton won the 100 free and took second in the 50 free.

Salisbury’s 200 medley relay team took third, while the 400 free relay team was fourth.

• South Rowan’s boys finished seventh in  team scoring.

Cameron Hurd was fourth in the 100 breaststroke in 1:07.13 and broke the school record.

Blaise Bumgarner took third in the 100 backstroke.Bumgarner was sixth in the 50 free in a school-record 23.03.

South’s 200 free relay team and 200 medley relay team placed fourth.
