SALISBURY — The Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education will discuss accountability under the new renewal district designation in a public meeting Thursday and Friday.

Sessions will be led by consultants George Thompson and John Tanner.

Thompson is president of the Schlechty Center, a Kentucky-based private, nonprofit organization that works with educators who are in the process of transformation.

Tanner is the founder of Test Sense. According to the Texas company’s website, test scores are not an all-encompassing measure of school success. The company details 12 principles of true accountability.

Sessions will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday and 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday.

Staff and school board members will meet in teams from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Friday. At 2:15 p.m., board members will meet to review what they learned and discuss the direction they want to take to ensure accountability.
