Pastor anniversary at Gray’s Chapel
Gray’s Chapel FBH, 229 Shaver St., continues the Pastor’s Anniversary celebration for Pastor Robert A. Wood tonight at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.

Poor Man’s Supper at Luther’s Lutheran
RICHFIELD — Saturday at 5 p.m. Luther’s Lutheran Church will host a Poor Man’s covered dish supper at the church, located at the corner of Stokes Ferry and Richfield Roads.

7-Up Program at Union Chapel AME Zion
LINWOOD — Union Chapel AME Zion Church, 4329 Sowers Road, will host a 7 Up Program on Sunday. Sister Shirley Scott, Sister Rachel Highsmith, Sister Karen Hicks, Sister Yolanda Roberts, Sister Kajuana Hamilton and Sister Ramona Hart will speak on themes of exhortation such as Lift-Up, Look Up, Shut Up, Reach-Up, Stand-Up, Dress-Up and Wake-Up. Rev. Michael Frencher Jr. is host pastor.

Homecoming at Sandy Ridge AME Zion
LANDIS — Historic Sandy Ridge AME Zion Church will observe its 48th homecoming and fall revival beginning Sunday at 10 a.m. Host pastor Rev. Clarence J. Shuford Jr. will deliver the morning message, with music by the Sandy Ridge Gospel Choir under the direction of C. Eugene Caldwell, and liturgical dance by Praise In Motion, led by Mary Sheely and Maggie Propst, with LeMarcus Foard and Zion Jackson as percussionists.
Speaker for the 3 p.m. service is Rev. Dr. James McDougald, pastor of Rock Hill AME Zion in Indian Trail.
Revival services are Monday-Wednesday.

Women’s Day at White Rock AME Zion
pic White Rock AME Zion celebrates its 57th Women’s Day on Sunday with Mary M. Marlin of Ardis Chapel AME Zion Church as the 11 a.m. speaker. Lunch will be served at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Judy B. Richards, associate pastor of Files Chapel Baptist Church of Lexington, will be the 3 p.m. speaker.
Rev. Richards holds a bachelor’s degree from High Point University, a master’s degree from Catawba College and a master’s degree from UNC-Greensboro. She is a teacher for the Lexington City Schools and UNC-Greensboro.

Women’s Day at Trinity Presbyterian (USA)
pic Trinity Presbyterian Church (USA), 300 S. Caldwell St., will observe Women’s Day on Sunday at 11 a.m. as well as Breast Cancer Awareness Month with guest speaker Rowan County native and breast cancer survivor, Jewell Witherspoon Holland.
Hollands holds a bachelor’s degree from Livingstone College and did graduate work at Penn State University in Pennsylvania, George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and the University of Cincinnati in Ohio.
She has taught in Roanoke, Va. and Hanau American School in Germany for the US Defense Department as well as in Washington, D.C. and the Rowan-Salisbury Schools system.

WELCA Sunday at Gloria Dei Lutheran
It’s WELCA Sunday (Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 1908 Statesville Blvd. Ladies of the church will preside over the worship service by presenting the sermon, to include the children’s sermon, serve as greeters, ushers, communion assistants, and music.

Women’s Day at Jerusalem Baptist
Jerusalem Baptist Church celebrates Women’s Day on Sunday at 11 a.m. Guest speaker will be Daphne Wilson, associate minister of Morning Star Baptist Church in Eden.
Special music will be provided by an all female choir composed of the ladies of Jerusalem, as well as women from area churches. All women in attendance are asked to wear white.

Foundation Sunday at First UCC
Sunday is Foundation Sunday and Catawba Homecoming Sunday at First United Church of Christ, 207 W. Horah St. Worship begins at 11 a.m.

144th anniversary at Miller’s Chapel AME Zion

UMA joint worship
The United Ministerial Alliance will host its joint worship service at 7 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 300 S. Caldwell St. Rev. Charles Susong of Mount Calvary Holiness Church, will deliver the message.
The UMA’s business meeting is at 11 a.m., Saturday, at Tower of Power United Holy Church, 601 East Cemetery St.

AMEZ Youth Explosion
EAST SPENCER — The Salisbury District Varick International Christian Youth Council of the AME Zion Church will sponsor a Youth Explosion on Monday, Oct. 22 at Southern City AME Zion Church in East Spencer at 7 p.m. The guest preacher will be Rev. Tyquan Alston, pastor of Swift Street AME Zion Church in Greensboro. Rev. Dr. Grant Harrison Jr. is the Presiding Elder of the Salisbury District.

Revival at Hall’s Chapel
Hall’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church’s Men’s Fellowship, located at the corner of East Monroe and South Clay Streets, will host its annual fall revival Tuesday-Thursday, Oct. 23-25 at 7 p.m.
