Minor league baseball: Season ends for Intimidators

LAKEWOOD, N.J. (AP) — Spencer Howard pitched a no-hitter, leading the Lakewood BlueClaws to a 1-0 victory over the Kannapolis Intimidators on Friday.

Lakewood won the first-round  playoff series, 2-0.

Howard (10-8) struck out nine and walked one to pick up the win.

The game’s only run was scored in the bottom of the sixth inning. After hitting a single, Jose Antequera advanced to second on a groundout and then scored on a single by Simon Muzziotti.

Parker Rigler (6-10) went 5 2/3 innings, allowing one run and three hits while striking out four in the South Atlantic League game.

The Intimidators were held scoreless for the 10th time this season, while the BlueClaws’ staff recorded their 24th shutout of the year.
