Statesville man faces multiple child sex charges

STATESVILLE — Daniel Jackie Greene, 35, of 121 Gypsy Drive, has been charged with eight sex offenses involving a minor after an investigation that began Jan 21.

On that day, a report was filed with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office about possible sexual assaults involving an 11-year-old. The assaults occurred between July and December at the suspect’s home, according to authorities.

Detective Sgt. Katie Harwell of the Special Victims Unit interviewed the victim at Dove House Children’s Advocacy Center. The victim identified Greene as the assailant.

Investigators obtained multiple felony warrants for Greene and arrested him on Friday.

He was charged with felony indecent liberties with a child; felony first-degree statutory sex offense on a minor by an adult; felony statutory rape of a child by an adult; and felony first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

Greene received a $200,000 bond.

On Monday, he was charged with two counts of first-degree statutory sex offense on a minor by an adult and two counts of felony statutory rape of a child by an adult and received an additional $50,000 bond.

The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are expected.

Greene has previous convictions on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
