SALISBURY — Two masked men changed their minds about stealing money from a local Dairy Queen when an employee told them to “get out,” according to a police report.

The men attempted to rob the restaurant at 2143 Statesville Blvd. about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, police said.

The men were wearing ski masks and hooded sweatshirts. They walked into the restaurant and one of them grabbed the cash register. He shook the register, but it did not open so he demanded that an employee open it.

The employee told the men to leave, and police said they did just that. They left on foot.

The men did not display any weapons or threaten the employee with a weapon, police said.
