SALISBURY — Novant Health Rowan Medical Center will offer a behind-the-scenes look at its new critical care transport helicopter from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today.

The new helicopter — called the Novant Health Med Flight — will serve communities and medical facilities within a 150-nautical-mile radius, including Charlotte and Winston-Salem, according to a Novant Health news release.

A ribbon-cutting will be held at 11:30 a.m. at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center, 612 Mocksville Ave.

People will then be allowed to see the helicopter up close and meet the Med Flight crew.

“I am excited to invite our friends and neighbors to celebrate the launch of Novant Health Med Flight, our brand new helicopter, with us,” said Dari Caldwell, Novant Health Rowan Medical Center president. “We are continuing to connect our community with critical care when and where they need it. Join us for a close-up look at the newest air ambulance in North Carolina.”

Parking will be available in the parking garage adjacent to the medical center.

The helicopter will be in the field next to the parking deck and across from the emergency entrance.
