Area Sports Briefs: East volleyball wins in five

Baleigh Hill had 29 digs in East Rowan’s 15-25, 25-23, 25-22, 18-25 and 15-11 volleyball win at Northwest Cabarrus on Wednesday.
Leah Wyrick had 14 kills, 17 assists and nine digs.
Olivia Wright had 14 kills, Abby Larson had 15 assists, Olivia Schumacher had eight kills, Megan Beam and Caroline Johnson had five kills each, and Paige Butler had four solo blocks for East (4-4).

East’s jayvees swept the Trojans. Zoe Larson had four aces.

In Carson’s sweep at West Stanly on Tuesday, Mallory Weast had 10 kills and 10 digs. Lindsay Elmore had 14 kills. Grace Thomas had 23 assists, Jaden Vaughn had five kills, and Kary Hales had 20 digs.
Carson (9-1) took a tough match with East Lincoln on Wednesday, 25-18, 25-22, 22-25 and 25-18.
Prep soccer
South Rowan got a CCC win on Wednesday by beating Oak Grove, 5-2.
Eber Tapia scored two goals, while Dalton Baxter, Jordi Cortez and Logan Carter had one each. German Delgado had three assists. Miguel Bernal had one.
Intimidators
The playoff game at Greensboro was washed out on Wednesday and postponed to tonight.
Game 2 in the best-of-three series is set for Kannapolis on Friday, as well as Game 3, if needed on Saturday.
The team has announced a special in-stadium raffle at Friday’s home playoff game to help raise money for Hurricane Harvey relief in conjunction with Minor League Baseball and MiLB Charities.
North Hills sports
North Hills JV volleyball defeated Woodlawn School 25-10 and 25-11.
Standout players were Jordan Henderson, Rachel Johnson, Susanna Kozlowski, and Haven Wagoner.

North Hills varsity volleyball won 14-25, 25-22, 25-18, 22-25 and 15-13 against Woodlawn.
Morgan Humble had 10 kills and four solo blocks. Elizabeth Jones had five aces, four kills and 11 digs.
Catherine Johnson had three kills, Lindsey White had seven digs, and Colby Edmonds had three aces.
The next game will be next week against Carolina Christian.
Mid. school football
Erwin at Southeast was postponed to today at 4 p.m.
Mooresville plays at Knox at 4 on Friday.
