SALISBURY — Six people on Monday officially added their names to the list of candidates for local town or city councils.

The field of candidates in Kannapolis grew by the largest number. The Salisbury City Council race gained a single candidate.

Dennis Johnson on Monday became the second person to file in the Kannapolis mayor’s race. Johnson ran for that office in 2013.

Adding their names to the list of Kannapolis City Council candidates were incumbent Dianne Berry and challenger Tony McBride.

Also filing for a city or town council race were:

• Tamara Sheffield, running for Salisbury City Council.

• Richard Taylor, Cleveland Board of Commissioners.

• Otis Gibson, East Spencer Board of Aldermen.

Filing will continue for municipal races until noon July 21.
