Rose Helms takes first place for Faith Idol Juniors

The first round of this year’s Faith Idol took place Friday night at 8 p.m in the midst of Faith Fourth festivities.

The competition is sponsored by F&M Bank and began with 10 contestants in the junior group. These contestants ranged from 13 to 18 years old.

Taking first place during this round was Rose Helms, a 17-year-old student from East Rowan. She sang “Travelin’ Soldier” by the Dixie Chicks, dedicating the song to her boyfriend in the army.

Second place went to Veronica Sanchez, who sang “Titanium” by David Guetta, and third to Karina Jacome, singing “Back to God” by Reba McEntire.
