Teen shot at Laurel Point Circle apartments

An 18-year-old man was injured in a shooting Monday night outside the 200 building of Laurel Point Apartments, according to a news release from the Salisbury Police Department.

Jamal Aaron West was treated at Novant Rowan Medical Center and was transported by ambulance to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for further treatment as a precaution, the release says.

Police responded at 6:37 p.m. to a call about a disturbance and shots fired. When officers arrived, they spoke to several witnesses who said there had been a group of people hanging out in front of the 200 building. An argument ensued and shots were fired, but there was no victim at the scene.

Minutes later, police learned that a gunshot victim had been taken to Novant Rowan in a private vehicle. Police report that West is in stable condition.
