Downed tree knocks out power to 1,000 in Salisbury
SALISBURY — A tree fell at West Innes Street and North Park Drive on Thursday evening, taking down utility lines and knocking out power to more than 1,000 homes and Catawba College.
According to the Salisbury Fire Department, the outage prompted West Innes to be closed to traffic in both directions.
Duke Energy said the outage to 1,077 customers was first reported at 6:50 p.m. The surrounding area was still without power as the Post went to press Thursday night. The utility’s website said the damage was being assessed.
