College men’s basketball: Warren explodes for 34 points

BREVARD — Catawba’s 6-foot-9 senior Troy Warren averages about 8 points per game, but he enjoyed a career outing on Friday when he scored 34 points in a 77-60 win at Brevard.
Warren, who also had 10 rebounds and three blocks, shot 12-for-15 from the field and 10-for-14 at the foul line in the South Atlantic Conference game. His previous career high of 26 points came against Pfeiffer as a freshman.
Warren scored 21 points in the first half as the Indians (17-9, 11-9) took a 33-22 lead.
Catawba shot 50 percent for the game, while holding the Tornados to 27 percent. The Indians led by as many as 22 points in the second half.
Jerrin Morrison added nine points for the Indians.
Stevie Williams had 21 points for Brevard (2-24, 0-20).
Catawba is at home against Wingate on Wednesday at 8 p.m.
