12th Annual Oyster Roast draws a crowd

SALISBURY — Waterworks Visual Arts Center’s Oyster Roast on Jan. 28 brought in a net total of $38,000 to benefit the  center, according to Ann Scott Clement, executive director.

It’s the 12th year Waterworks has held the event, and Clement said roughly 400 people attended the evening, filled with food and good company.

“This event is Waterworks’ largest fundraiser. As an important community resource, we are most grateful to the many individuals and businesses who generously support this event. It allows us to fulfill our mission to provide quality experiences through exhibition, education, and outreach,” Clement said.

The event, held in the F&M Trolley Barn, featured music by Erin Brown and Virtual Sounds, and food catered by Big Daddy’s of Lake Norman, College Barbecue, the Country Club of Salisbury and Cold Stone Creamery.

Event sponsors were College Barbeque, Lynn and Fred Dula, First Bank, Fisher Construction Company, KMD Construction and United Beverages of N.C. with presenting sponsors F&M Bank, Missie and Greg Alcorn, Frierich Foods, Crescent Construction Services, Agility Fuel Systems and Salisbury Post.
