SALISBURY – Novant Health Rowan Medical Center announced that the “Uncork Your Support” fashion show and wine tasting event will take place on Sunday, Oct. 16, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Morgan Ridge Vineyards.

The event, hosted by the Miss Rowan County Scholarship Organization, will feature local boutique fashions modeled by Miss Rowan County titleholders and breast cancer survivors.

The cost of admission is $30.

All proceeds will be split between the Miss Rowan County Scholarship Fund and purchasing a new 3-D mammography unit for the Rowan Medical Center’s breast health services mobile coach.

3-D mammography is the newest development in breast scan technology. The three-dimensional image allows for better viewing of invasive tumors and a decrease in false alarms.

The new mobile coach will allow for women to get scanned quickly in places where they work, live and attend activities with the goal of increasing the number of women who get regular breast checks.

“Breast cancer has touched all our lives directly or indirectly at some point,” said Amanda Basinger, who volunteers as the executive director of the Miss Rowan County Scholarship Organization. “This event promises to not only be a lot of fun but also raise money for a very important cause.”
