South Piedmont Conference baseball teams play three league games this week — today, Wednesday and Friday.
Key games include Carson at East Rowan tonight; South Rowan at West Rowan on Wednesday, and West at Carson on Friday.
Carson and West Rowan enter the week tied for first with 9-1 records.

Intimidators win
Zach Fish hit a three-run homer to lead the Kannapolis Intimidators to a 10-3 win against Hickory on Sunday.
Kannapolis (1-3) pounded out 14 hits, with Tyler Sullivan and Antonio Rodriguez getting three each.
Johan Cruz drove in three runs.

College golf
Wake Forest won the Irish Creek Intercollegiate with a team total of 855.
Next were Kennesaw State (859) and UNC (860).
Davidson’s Alex Nianouris (Salisbury) shot 76-73 -76 — 225 and tied for 45th.
Area update
Eric Edwards (Salisbury) shot 73-77-78 — 228, 12 over, and led George Mason in the ECU Intercollegiate.
Troy Beaver (Salisbury) shot 73-77-70 — 220, 4 over, and led Elon in the Clemson Invitational.

Billy Barnes honored
Landis’ Billy Ray Barnes served as honorary Gold team captain for Wake Forest’s Black-Gold spring football game on Saturday.
Barnes’ team lost 21-3. Barnes, a Wake Forest All-American, was the ACC’s first 1,000-yard rusher in 1956.

Prep wrestling
East Rowan junior Max Wall was named the Dutch Meyer Award winner as Rowan County Wrestler of the Year.
East Rowan’s Barry Justus won the Ralph Shatterly award as Rowan County Coach of the Year.

North Rowan grad Javon Hargrave worked out in Pittsburgh for the Steelers on Friday.
Hargrave is projected as a third-round draft pick.

College baseball
Appalachian State junior Brian Bauk (Salisbury) hit his first college homer on Saturday at Troy in a 3-2 loss.
Bauk belted the ball over a 30-foot wall in right field.

Austin hit the home run as a pinch-hitter in Saturday’s 7-4 win at William & Mary.

Prep baseball
The Greater Cabarrus Stallions lost to Nation Ford (S.C.), 4-3, in nine innings on Saturday.
Seth Cauble had two hits, including a triple, Hunter Shepherd had two hits, including a homer.

College lacrosse
Catawba’s men snapped a three-game losing streak with a 10-8 win at Shorter on Saturday.
Catawba (5-7) got three goals apiece from Connor Kennedy and Liam Lynch.

College tennis
Johnson C. Smith’s women won 8-1 against Livingstone. The winner for LC was Shondra Redfern at No. 1 singles.
