A man was cited with possession of steroids during a traffic checkpoint Thursday.

At 12:28 a.m. Thursday morning, deputies reported that a white pickup truck came through a traffic checkpoint at the corner of Woodleaf and Goodson roads. While the driver was getting his license out, deputies reported that they allegedly saw the two passengers holding open 12-ounce cans of beer.

The deputy reported that he went to check the tag, and when he returned, the cans of beer were no longer in sight. He asked the driver and the passengers to step out, and when they did, he saw an open can of beer in one of the seats.

The deputy opened the back door of the truck and saw a long gun under the seat within reach of the driver’s seat. He reported finding a 250 mg. ampule of testosterone in the truck’s console.

David Wolford, one of the passengers, was cited with having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle. Justin Lee Waller, 26, was cited with simple possession of a schedule III controlled substance, possession of a concealed weapon and operating a vehicle under the influence after consuming alcohol.

Wolford and Waller were released after receiving their citations.
