CONCORD — Toy puppies arrived in force at Jeff Gordon Children’s Hospital, part of Carolinas HealthCare System NorthEast, on Wednesday morning, thanks to the Puppies for Patients program.

Donors who gave blood to the Communities Blood Center of the Carolinas (CBCC) in November and December were able to sign a gift tag attached to a stuffed toy puppy. The toys were given to young patients this week.

About 20 puppies were handed out. Since 2005, CBCC has delivered thousands of stuffed toy puppies to children.
