Salisbury Police are investigating an assault case after two people ended up in the emergency room with lacerations early Friday morning.

Police were called out to the emergency room at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center at 1:22 a.m. in reference to two patients suffering from lacerations. Both patients reported that they’d come from the Firewater Restaurant and Lounge at Avalon Drive.

While the investigation is ongoing, police have determined that both of the patients — a patron of the bar and one of the bar’s personnel — were involved in an altercation while at Firewater where they both suffered apparent stab wounds.

The Firewater employee allegedly received a laceration to a pinky finger that, according to Salisbury Police, nearly amputated the finger. The patron suffered from lacerations to the chest and face and was being transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, according to police.
