Area Sports Briefs: North volleyball beats Hornets, ties for second

North Rowan beat Salisbury 25-22, 25-20 and 25-22 on Thursday and created a three-way tie for second place in the CCC.
Makala Lytton had 15 kills, 26 digs and three aces for North.
Bil’lizah Connor had nine kills. Brianna White had 29 assists and 14 digs. Aliyah Farmer had six kills and 18 blocks. Chevy Blaire had five kills. Navi Joyner, Kiara Davis and Amarriya Harris made key plays for the Cavaliers.
Juliana Anderson led the Hornets with 13 kills, nine blocks and nine digs.
Lora Withers had three kills and 13 assists. Makayla Dillon had nine assists and five digs. Jane Miller had three aces and six digs. Rebecca Malloy had 6 digs.
The Hornets, Cavaliers and East Davidson tied with 6-4 records. Regular season champ West Davidson went 9-1.

Salisbury’s jayvee team won 25-8, 25-10. Kaya Twitty led the Hornets with six aces. Mary McCullough had five aces and Carsyn Parrott had four.

Gray Stone lost to South Stanly 25-18, 25-15 and 25-22 in YVC volleyball on Thursday.
Megan Frick and Roni Boss had 10 kills each for the Knights. Caroline Cody led in assists
Gray Stone finished the regular season 16-2 and 8-2 in the YVC.

Prep soccer
South Rowan won 1-0 against Central Cabarrus in SPC soccer on Thursday.
Luis Delgado scored. Walker Joyce assisted.
Keeper Cameron Corriher made that goal stand up.

Robinson suprised Cox Mill 2-1 and knocked the Chargers out of a first-place tie with Carson.

Carson (14-1, 13-1 SPC) won 5-3 at Concord.
Brandon Flores scored three goals for the Cougars. Ricky Maldonado scored, and Irving Flores’ corner kick resulted in an own goal.
Maldonado scored for a 1-1 tie on an assist by Flores. Flores got a goal off a Khalid Myers corner kick.
Irving Flores finished the scoring for the Cougars with a corner kick for an own goal.
Carson hosts East Rowan on Tuesday.
