TYRO — Mixing drives, jumpers and free throws, Mary Church scored a career-high 29 points as East Rowan rallied to beat West Davidson 69-64 in Wednesday’s non-conference game.

West Davidson (2-4) led by 13 in the early stages of the game and still led by 10 at halftime. East (3-2) made a big run in the third quarter to take the lead and held on during the frantic final minutes.

“Glad we decided to play in the second half,” relieved East head coach Bri Evans said.

Sadie Featherstone made some tough drives and scored a career-high 13 for the Mustangs. Kady Collins had 12. Lily Kluttz made clutch free throws at the end.

SALISBURY — Salisbury’s girls beat Community School of Davidson 46-43 in an overtime thriller on Wednesday.

Regan Downey scored 22 for the Spartans (4-2), who had won 10 straight road games.

The Hornets (2-2) survived in a game of runs.

Salisbury led 19-17 at halftime.

The Hornets pushed ahead in the third quarter, but Community School of Davidson rallied to force overtime. It was 39-all at the end of regulation.

Torese Evans led Salisbury with 16 points, seven rebounds, four steals and three assists.

Janiyah Fomond and Keaira Spruill had 12 rebounds each.

LANDIS — South Rowan’s girls had every chance to win on Wednesday against Mount Pleasant, but the Tigers took a 36-33 non-conference victory.

It took the Tigers (5-2) about four minutes to score their first point, but they led 8-4 after a quarter and had the Raiders down 19-8 late in the second quarter.

South (3-4) rallied in the third quarter and finally took the lead at 24-23 when Kynlee Dextraze scored inside. The Tigers went back ahead 25-24 at the end of the quarter.

South never had the lead in the fourth quarter, although the Raiders got within one point on a 3-pointer by Ella Morgan with 4:46 left and again cut the deficit to a single point at 34-33 on a McKenzie Menius free throw with 1:16 remaining.

But Menius’ second free throw danced off the rim, and the Raiders missed their scoring opportunities down the stretch.

Dextraze and Morgan led South with nine points each. South got 15 points at the foul line.

SPENCER — Central Davidson won 43-33 at North Rowan in Wednesday’s non-conference girls basketball game.

Daisa Elder, Krisstyle Stockton, Allanah McArthur and Za’Kiya Oglesby-Peck scored seven points each for the Cavaliers, and Kanya Cowan added five.

North is 1-2. Central Davidson is 2-4.

LINCOLNTON — Alana Campbell scored 12 points for A.L. Brown’s girls in a 45-28 non-conference loss at Lincolnton on Wednesday.

London Gray added six for the Wonders (3-5). Lincolnton is 4-2.
