Area Sports Briefs: Parrish gets 100th victory at helm of SHS boys soccer

Salisbury won 7-1 against Thomasville on Wednesday in CCC soccer and provided coach Matt Parrish with his 100th win in five seasons at the helm of the boys program.
Parrish is 100-10-4.
Landon Goodman had a hat trick and two assists for Salisbury (11-0-2). He had two goals in the first four minutes before moving to the back.
Bryan Garcia scored his first varsity goal. Reilly Gokey, Joshua Lynch and Pedro Cruz scored their first goals of the season.
Melvin Bonilla, Matt Washko, Santiago Cabellero and Daniel Tinajero had assists. Ahmedin Salcinovic, Bryan Fragoso and Nick Veros were standouts for the Hornets.

Salisbury’s jayvees won 4-0 against Thomasville in a weather-shortened affair.
Prep football
Weather is again affecting the football schedule.
Two varsity games were moved up from Friday to tonight — West Rowan at Carson (7:30) and Davie at Reagan (7 p.m.).
The West-Carson jayvee game will be played Monday at West.
It’s possible more announcements will be made today.
Prep golf
West Davidson shot 114 at Sapona on Wednesday and won against Salisbury (139) and East Davidson (162).
West Davidson’s Rachel Mast shot 34. Salisbury’s Grace Yatawara shot 35. Caroline Parrott shot 48 for the Hornets, while Shelby Holden shot 56.
Prep tennis
Salisbur’s girls won 9-0 at Thomasville on Wednesday for their 143rd consecutive victory in the CCC.
Salisbury is at West Davidson on Monday.
The CCC tournament will be hosted by Salisbury on Oct. 12-13.

Knox beat Corriher-Lipe 46-0. Scoring for the Trojans were Jabril Norman, Reggie Everhart, Lawon Blackwell, Calvin Twitty, Donavan Blair, and Patrick Taylor. Defensive standouts were Jadarius Wood, Norman, Twitty and Marquail Roebuck.
7th-grade football
Southeast won 36-0 against West Rowan.
Scoring for the Patriots were Cameron Pyle (two TDs) Christian Morgan (two TDs) and Jacob Harris. Alex London threw three TD passes and ran for a 2-point conversion.
Andrew Rollins added 2 PAT kicks. The O-line of Ben Klein, Sean Lewis, Harrison Shell, Cesar Campuzano, Jeremy Moldanado played well. Defensive standouts for the Patriots were Hunter Watts, Steve Smith and Brayden Graham.
Mid. school tennis
Knox defeated Salisbury Academy 6-3 on Wednesday.
Singles winners for Knox were Lillie Rusher, Anna Grace Woolly, Quinnlan Watson, Meredith Burton, and Gabby Fisher.
Winning in doubles for Knox was the team of Rusher/Woolly.
Local golf
The Corbin Hills Women’s Golf Association hosted their annual Interclub, with eight clubs participating. The Las Vegas Scramble event was won by the team of Kristi Laton, Elaine Mullis and Evelyn Wilkinson.
Second place went to the team of Sun Kim, Susan Wydner and Eileen Full.
Third Place went to the team of Hong Joo Kim, Lillian Pidkameny, Monica Green and Sheryl Johnson.
The team of Young Seo, Faye Cline, Sherry Tarnok and Anne Saunders was fourth. The team of Susan Morris, Mary Seaford and Diane Cranfill was fifth.
College soccer
Catawba’s women lost 2-1 to Pfeiffer on Wednesday. Emily Davis scored for the Indians (3-5). Katlyn Stevens had the game-deciding goal on a free kick.
