Crime blotter: Students face marijuana charges

 A West Rowan High School student was arrested Friday and charged with possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the report, a teacher observed Caleb Willis, 16, walk around the corner of the 400 building with another student and pull what appeared to be a pipe with some burned tin foil in it from his backpack. Willis and the other student were escorted to the office and searched.

According to the report, marijuana and an ink pen casing used to smoke it were found on Willis. A search of Willis’s car revealed marijuana residue on the driver’s side of the car and two homemade bowie knives in the trunk. 

Willis was cited with having a weapon on school grounds, possession of marijuana and possession of drug equipment or paraphernalia.  He was released into his father’s custody.

In a separate incident, Nicholas Moss, 16, was also charged Friday at West Rowan High with possession of marijuana and released to his father.

  • Courtney Michelle Kelly, 25, was arrested Friday on charges of obtaining property by false pretenses at the 1000 block of Archer Acres Drive, Salisbury.
  • Charles Stephen Harrill, 59, was arrested Friday at the 1000 block of Upper Palmer Road, Salisbury on charges of possession of a controlled substance.
  • Deshavian Kendell Sanford, 20 was arrested Friday at the 1000 block of Upper Palmer Road, Salisbury on charges of possession of a controlled substance.
  • Caleb Dale Green, 16, was arrested on charges of larceny at West Rowan High School on Friday.
  • Austin Grant Hellard, 25, was arrested Friday on charges of breaking and entering at the 11700 block of Statesville Boulevard, Cleveland.
  • Jonathan Lawson Brown, 39, was arrested on charges of simple assault at the 4800 block of Woodleaf Road, Salisbury.
  • Jason Daniel Loggans, 35, was arrested Friday on charges of fleeing and eluding arrest at the 5300 block of Rimer Road, Concord.
  • Marlon Kerry King, 24, was arrested on charges of assault on a female at the 2100 block of West C Street, Kannapolis on Saturday.
  • Jasmine Marie Homza, 18, was arrested at the 500 block of St. Stephens Church Road, Gold Hill on charges of using drug equipment or paraphernalia.
  • Justin Tucker Correll, 29, was arrested Saturday at the 2800 block of Airport Road on charges of resist delay and Obstructing a public officer.
  • Darrell Eugene Barbee, 38, was arrested on Saturday at the 300 block of Phillips Avenue, Landis on charges of resist, delay, and obstructing a public officer.
  • Misty Ann Burleson, 28, was arrested Saturday on charges of possession of controlled substances with intent to make, sell, or distribute at the 700 block of Eastview Road, Salisbury.
  • Jonathan Craig Lee, 45, was arrested at the 7400 block of Blackwelder Road on Saturday on charges of assault by pointing a gun.
  • Ashley Harkey McCrary, 30, was arrested at the 2500 block of Gold Knob Road, Salisbury, on Sunday on charges of resist, delay, and obstructing a public officer.
  • Jacqueline Christine Pence, 28, was arrested and charged with larceny on Sunday at the 200 block of Pinevale Drive, Salisbury.
  • Timothy Lee Evans, 46, was arrested Sunday at the 100 block of Pineview Circle, Salisbury, on charges of larceny.
  • Autumn Desiree Pennington, 17, was arrested Sunday at the 1400 block of Oak Breeze Drive, Mooresville, on charges of resist, delay, and obstructing a public officer.
  • Gary Lee Pennington, 20, was arrested Sunday at the 1400 block of Oak Breeze Drive, Moorseville, on charges of assault serious bodily injury.
  • Sally Ann Pennington, 41, was arrested Sunday at the 1400 block of Oak Breeze Drive, Mooresville on charges of resist, delay, and obstructing a public officer.
  • Timothy Clarence Smith, 29, was arrested on charges of assault on a female Sunday at the 5600 block of Goodman Lake Road.
  • John Edward Reese, 33, was arrested Sunday and charged with first degree rape at the Magistrate’s Office.
  • Cassidy Brown Fortune, 27, was arrested Sunday at the 8400 block of Aqua Lane, Kannapolis for using a telephone to threaten bodily harm.

Salisbury Police reports

Salisbury Police arrested and charged a man with a felony possession of marijuana, Monday.

Police pulled over Ronald Lafleur Woodruff, Jr, 37, late Monday evening because his Chevy Tahoe was missing a driver’s side mirror.

According to the report, officers ran a police dog around the vehicle, per procedure. The dog detected the presence of a controlled substance in Woodruff’s car, giving officers a license to search. They found a black backpack on the floor behind the driver’s seat that contained 55.5 grams of marijuana, a set of digital scales, and Woodruff’s wallet.

Woodruff was arrested and charged with simple possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Woodruff has previously been charged in Rowan County with drug possession, assault on a female, and assault with a deadly weapon. He has been placed under a $2,000 secured bond.

  • Marcus Tarron House, 38, was arrested on Monday and charged at the Sheriff’s Office with assault on a female.
  • Shale Monique Glen, 22, was arrested at the 100 block of East Liberty Street on Monday on charges of larceny from a person.
  • Eddie Charles Gladden, 57, was arrested on Monday at the 600 block of Bringle Ferry Road and charged with assault on a female.
