Area Sports Briefs: Intimidators lose

The Hagerstown Suns used a pair of five-run innings — highlighted by Austin Davidson’s grand slam in the fourth — to burn the Intimidators, 12-6 on Friday at Municipal Stadium.
Kannapolis (22-26) gave up two home runs, including an inside-the-park shot by Brennan Middleton when two Kannapolis outfielders collided, as the Suns evened the series at one game apiece.

Junior Legion
Carson lost 5-3 to the Kannapolis O’s despite good pitching by Maddux Holshouser, Jaxon Miller and Devan Gay.
Logan Ridenhour, Chase Earnhardt, Luke Barringer and Zack Lee had two hits each. Lee had two RBIs.

Local golf
In the eGolf Tour’s GMC Open at Albemarle Plantation, Salisbury’s Frank Adams III is tied for second after shooting a pair of 67s.
Adams is 8-under.
• The Swings ‘Fore’ Srings Golf Tournament will be held on June 13 at Corbin Hills.
The format is Captain’s Choice. Teams tee of at noon. The tournament is to benefit the Salisbury-Rowan Symphony Guild.
Individuals are invited to play at the Arnie’s Army level for $75 or $300 a team. The $75 entry fee includes beverages, prizes and post-play meal.
Hole sponsorships are $300 — tee or green for $150. All sponsorships will be acknowledged with signs on the golf course.
There will be cash prizes for first, second and third place team winners.
