KANNAPOLIS —A two-out triple in the top of the 10th inning by Lakewood’s Carlos Tocci handed the Intimidators a series-opening 5-4 loss against the BlueClaws.

Malquin Canelo reached base on a hard-driven, one-out single to right field. Cord Sandberg’s pop fly to second baseman Christian Stringer put two outs on the board.

Canelo scored all the way from first on Tocci’s game-winning RBI hit.

Kannapolis’ Devon Davis was the losing pitcher after taking over for starter Thad Lowry with two outs in the top of the ninth.

Lowry struck out six and gave up three earned runs on eight hits and two walks in 8 1/3 innings on the mound.

The Intimidators got on the board in the bottom of the second on Mason Robbins’ three-run homer, his third of the season.

Their 3-1 lead held until Jiandido Tromp’s two-run triple in the top of the fourth.

Kannapolis’ Louie Lechich broke the tie in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI double.

The Intimidators only managed four hits in the extra-innings loss.
