Rowan weather: More cold days and nights

Published 8:02 am Wednesday, January 28, 2015

It’s even colder this morning than it was Tuesday, but there was no frost to scrape off the car — at least in some neighborhoods.

Today will be sunny with a high near 45 and north northwest wind at 3-7 mph. Tonight will be very cold, all the way down to 22 degrees.

We’ll warm up  a little for Thursday, though skies will be partly sunny. The high should be near 49, and the wind will shift to the south southwest. Thursday night’s low will be 31.

Friday, the wind returns, and is back from the northwest, with sustained winds at 5-15 mph and gusts as high as 24 mph. The high will be 45 under sunny skies. The low will be a frigid 21.

Mostly sunny for Saturday, with a high near 47 and a low around 30.

Sunday is presenting a problem. The National Weather Service predicts a 50 percent chance of rain and snow, with a high near 41. The chance of rain and snow is 60 percent for Sunday night, with a low of 32.

It doesn’t warm up any next week, either. Monday’s high will be 44, with partly sunny skies. The low will be 22.

Tuesday will be mostly sunny, but the high will be only 42.

Don’t think you can put away your cold weather clothes yet, even if stores are stocking spring items.
