Holiday Caravan Parade

A replay of the Holiday Caravan Parade, which was held Nov. 26,will be broadcast to 1.1 million households Sunday at 10:30 a.m. on WAXN-TV64. The Holiday Caravan Parade Board elected to partner with this station because it reaches virtually every home in the area, regardless of whether they are a cable or satellite subscriber. Kent Bernhardt, a local radio and television personality, and Salisbury native Kay Peeler are the co-hosts.

“We are very pleased to be able to provide a broadcast of the program for folks not able to get out to the parade this year,” said Wesley Perry, chairman of the Holiday Caravan Parade Board. “And those who were in the parade will want to tune in to see themselves on television.”

The two-hour program was made possible because of the support of Food Lion, Trinity Oaks Retirement Center and Cloninger Ford/Toyota. DVDs of the parade are also available for $10 and can be ordered by calling the parade office at 704-636-5335.

Bernhardt is the longtime host of Salisbury’s Early Morning News on WSTP, production coordinator for The Performance Racing Network (PRN) at Charlotte Motor Speedway, veteran stage performer and voiceover talent and a columnist for The Salisbury Post.

Kay was Miss Holiday Caravan in 1975. She graduated from East Rowan High School and then received a BA degree from Catawba College in music education.  She is an accomplished musician who teaches choral arts in Iredell-Statesville Schools.  She is the accompanist for the Iredell Statesville Schools all-County Honors choirs for Elementary and High School.  She serves as accompanist for the Mitchell College Community Choir and the accompanist, organist at Wesley United Methodist Church in Statesville.
