Welcome to winter, although it’s not set to arrive until Dec. 21. Today’s cold, damp start is a reminder that Indian Summer is over.
Skies will clear and become mostly sunny today, but the high will be only 44 degrees. North northwest wind will blow at 9-11 mph with gusts up to 18 mph, adding to the chill. Tonight will be dangerously cold, with a low of 22.
Make sure to check on your older neighbors to see that they have safe heat. Do not use a space heater near anything flammable, and be sure to turn it off when you go to bed.
Replace filters and get your heating unit serviced soon. Do not heat with any open flame or your oven.
Saturday will still be cold, with a nigh of 46, but the wind will calm down. The low will be around 26, very cold again.
Sunday, we have a little warmup, with a high of 54, but a 30 percent chance of rain. Sunday night, the chance amps up to 60 percent, and the low will be 41.
Showers are likely Monday, with another high around 54. Chance of rain is 70 percent. Monday night, the cold deepens again, with a low of 30 and a 40 percent chance of precipitation.
The sun returns Tuesday, but the high will be only 41 and the low will be a frigid 20 degrees.
Wednesday will be sunny, too, with a high of 42; turn the number around and you’ll get the low, 24.
It warms up to 50 degrees on Thursday, with sunny skies.
