Vietnam Veterans Park to be dedicated Saturday in Cabarrus County

CONCORD — The Vietnam Veterans Park in Concord, located at 760 Orphanage Road, will be dedicated with a 10:30 a.m. ceremony Saturday.

The public is encouraged to join Vietnam veterans, county leaders and dignitaries in dedicating the park, which will become part of the Cabarrus County recreation department.

Guest speakers will include U.S. Marine and author Ilario Pantano, who also is director of the N.C. Division of Veterans Affairs; Joe Galloway, author of “We Were Soldiers Once and Young”; and Gen. Mick Kicklighter, a Vietnam veteran and chairman of the Vietnam 50th Anniversary Project.

Park-and-ride shuttles are available at the Church of God Children’s Home, 3485 Orphanage Road.
