A man with a history of assault was charged with violating a domestic protective order after he threatened to go to Henderson Independent High School where his ex-girlfriend works in the cafeteria. Police said the school went on lockdown Friday morning when Rasheed Mustafa Hasan showed up on the property.
Salisbury Police charged Hasan, 30, of the 1000 block of Grady Street, with misdemeanor violating a 50-B protective order and misdemeanor second-degree trespassing.
A report said Hasan contacted his ex-girlfriend via cell phone and told her he was going to “kick the door in,” said Police Capt. Shelia Lingle.
The school administrators and the school resource officer were notified of the potential threat. The school was placed on lockdown, which was quickly lifted.
Lingle said Hasan did kick an exterior door, but he left before additional police officers arrived.
He was arrested the same day at at home in the 100 block of South McCoy Road. He was placed under a 48-hour domestic violence hold, but has since been released from the Rowan County Detention Center under a $2,500 secured bond. He is expected in court in December.
He was charged in July with misdemeanor disorderly conduct/disturbing the peace.
Hasan has a history of assault, according to the N.C. Department of Corrections. In 2007, he was convicted of misdemeanor drug possession. In April 2009, he was convicted of misdemeanor assault and simple assault from two different incidents. In May 2009, Hasan was convicted of misdemeanor breaking and entering. In 2010, he was convicted of vandalism, assault with a deadly weapon, larceny, drug possession and violating a protective order, all of which are misdemeanors.
In 2011, the courts convicted Hasan of assault on a female and breaking and entering, both misdemeanors. He was convicted of misdemeanor drug possession in 2012.
