SALISBURY — Two months after owner Ted Aurora reopened Cartucci’s Italian restaurant, he’s now opening the former Blue Vine as a new wine bar, café and live music venue.
Cartucci’s Grapevine, located at 209 S. Main St., will open Friday and host the Josh Daniel/Mark Schimick Project from 9 p.m. to midnight with no cover charge for the grand opening.
Hours will be 6 to 11 p.m. Thursdays with karaoke from 9 to 11 p.m., and 6 p.m. to midnight Fridays and Saturdays with live music starting at 9 p.m. Cartucci’s Grapevine will have an appetizer and dessert menu, catered by Cartucci’s restaurant around the corner. The Grapevine will offer wine, beer and coffee.

SALISBURY — A wedding dress boutique in downtown Salisbury will be the exclusive North Carolina retailer for Heidi Elnora, a dress designer whose reality TV show debuted last week on TLC.
Bellissima, located at 100 W. Innes St., will carry Elnora’s Build a Bride line, featured on the show “Bride by Design,” which airs at 10 p.m. Fridays following TLC’s popular “Say Yes to the Dress.”
Alabama-based Elnora designs and creates custom wedding gowns with “Southern sparkle,” according to a news release. In 2005, she was one of the designers selected to compete on “Project Runway.”
Bellissima owner Monica Cameron said the Elnora line provides brides with multiple looks using one gown.
“The collection is comprised of gorgeous silhouettes in beautiful silk fabrics,” Cameron said. “After selecting the shape of the gown, brides choose from tons of trim options, lace jackets, beaded sashes, etc.”
The collection will begin at $1,800.

The former Bass Lake RV Resort has reopened as Carolina Country Family Campground under the new ownership of Rennie Gupton.
Located at 185 Jim Neely Drive off U.S. 601 North, the campground will host a grand opening from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Visitor passes are free and activities like swimming and fishing will be half-price.
Refreshments will be for sale, and the campground will give away prizes throughout the day. Camping will be discounted.
Regular cabin rentals start at $60 per night with a two-night minimum, three nights on holiday weekends. The campground offers RV hookups, tent sites, family day passes and individual day passes in a country setting with an Olympic-sized pool, club house, fishing lake, paddle boats, putt putt and more.

SALISBURY — Jamie Sheets, the charge nurse in the endoscopy department at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center, has received the 2014 Tammy Bernhardt Nursing Excellence Award.
The award is given annually to a Rowan Medical Center nurse who demonstrates exemplary care for patients. Award recipients are nominated by their peers.
Sheets was nominated by the endoscopy staff for her strong emphasis on and dedication to nursing. In addition, she assisted a local gastroenterologist’s office with establishing office-based outpatient procedures. These services were previously unavailable for local residents. 
Sheets, who has worked at Rowan Medical Center for nine years and is a lifelong resident of Rowan County, was actually born at the hospital.
For the past three years, Sheets has chaired the hospital’s Nurse Practice Council, and she is a member of the Nurse Peer Review and Nurse Coordinating Council and is one of the hospital’s safety coaches.
She is also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Altar Guild at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church and volunteers as a Sunday school teacher.

RALEIGH — The N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is sponsoring a free food business workshop next month at the McKimmon Center in Raleigh.
“The Business of Being in Business” will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon Aug. 27. The workshop will cover topics including trademarks, sales tax, business structure and more. Registration is open to existing food businesses and is limited to 30 people, and the deadline is Aug. 22.
