Cavs, Hornets named All-CCC

North Rowan’s Chance Mazza, Brandon White, Spencer Locklear, Noah Gonzalez and Jake Pritchard were named to the All-CCC baseball team.
Salisbury’s All-CCC players are Chance Bowden, Riley Myers, Ryan Jones and Will Steinman.
The CCC Player of the Year is West Davidson’s Chandler Simmerson, with East Davidson’s Nathan Campbell runner-up.
The CCC Pitcher of the Year is East Davidson’s Nick Williams. The runner-up is West Davidson’s Justin “Lefty” Freeman.
East Davidson’s Dan Tricarico and West Davidson’s Jerry Walser were co-coaches of the year for the CCC.
East Davidson’s Tyler Rhodes, Kelvin Pena and Ryan McIntyre and West Davidson’s T.J. Eller, Graham Shoaf, Zach Queen and Justin Norman made All-CCC, along with Lexington’s Will Lancaster.

Prep baseball
CCC champ East Davidson lost to Bunker Hill 8-1 on Thursday in the 2A Western Regional championship series.
Bunker Hill swept the series 2-0.
Cameron Chapman homered for Bunker Hill. East Davidson finished 19-8. Ryan McIntyre took the loss.
• In the 3A Western series, Burns and Piedmont were rained out.
West Rowan athletics will host a captains choice format golf tournament Saturday at Crescent Golf Course. The cost is $40 per player with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.

Kannapolis rallied from a 5-3 deficit in the seventh and won 7-6 against the Mooresville Legends on Wednesday.
Trey Mazza homered for the Legends in the first inning. Jack Carty had a double and drove in two runs.
Dalton Binkley took the loss.

Salisbury’s Frank Adams shot 65 in the second round of the eGolf Tour’s Sedgefield Open in Greensboro and moved into contention. He’s tied for ninth.
• The Corbin Hills Ladies played in their annual two-day Grace Rodgers Spring Handicap Tournament on Tuesday and Thursday.
Overall low net and winner of the tournament was Eileen Full.
Overall low gross was won by Beth Calhoun.
Low net in the First Flight was Susan Morris. Low net in the Second Flight was Mary Seaford. Low net in the Third Flight was Carolynn Ries.
Catawba senior first baseman Paul Kronenfeld has been named a second team Capital One Academic All-American in baseball.
Kronenfeld is a business major with a 3.94 GPA.
Kronenfeld led Catawba with a .361 average this season, which ranked sixth in the South Atlantic Conference. He collected a league-high 21 doubles and was third in the SAC in runs scored with 54. Kronenfeld hit six home runs and drove in 43 runs.

Intimidators
The Kannapolis Intimdators were rained out on Thursday.
A doubleheader has been scheduled for tonight in Kannapolis, with the first game starting at 5 p.m.

Rancho Cucamonga’s Corey Seager (NW Cabarrus, Kannapolis Legion) had a stretch in May in which he had 20 hits in a nine-game span, including two four-hit games. He’s a cooled off some now, going 0-for-8 in his last two starts, but he’s still hitting .355 for the season. The top hitting prospect of the L.A. Dodgers, the 6-foot-4, 20-year-old shortstop is on track to move up to Double A at the All-Star break.
Seager hit his seventh homer on Thursday.

East baseball camp
The dates for East Rowan’s baseball camp are June 16-20.
The camp is from 9-2 Monday through Thursday and 9 until 12 on Friday, the 20th.
Lunch is provided Friday. Campers should bring lunch the other days.
The cost of the camp is $110. The cost includes a camp T-shirt and video.

The 8th annual Carson Cougar basketball camp for rising 2nd through 6th grade boys and girls will be held on July 7-10.

Following are the sites and dates for the 21st annual Hoops Unlimited summer basketball camps.
East Rowan High: June 16-19, rising 2nd-5th grade boys and girls and June 23-26, rising 6th-10th grade boys and girls
North Stanly Middle School: July 7-10, rising 2nd-5th grade boys and girls and July 14-17, rising 6th-10th grade boys and girls

Basketball Camp
The 4th Summer Jam Evaluation Basketball Camp will be held June 16-19 at the Benchwarmers Sports Complex in Mooresville.
The camp is for boys and girls. Grades 9-11 from 9-12 daily. Grades 3-8 from 1-4 daily.
The first day of camp clinics cover ballhandling, shooting and passing. The second day is offensive skill work. The third day features footwork and attacking. The final day is live games and video review.
Early registration cost is $60 per player or $50 apiece for two or more players.
After May 31, the cost goes up to $75.
Players receive T-shirts and daily snacks and drinks.
