SALISBURY — After 15 months as the principal of Salisbury High School, Dr. Avis Williams has resigned to take a job with Guilford County Schools.
Williams, a Salisbury native and graduate of North Rowan High School, sent the following email to Salisbury High staff on Thursday evening:
“A year and half ago I made the decision to return home and was given the amazing opportunity to serve as principal of Salisbury High. Coming home and joining the Hornet family have been by far the best decisions I could have made.
“I love this community and I love Salisbury High School!
“Now, I have been blessed far beyond my expectations. I have been offered and accepted the position of Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Secondary Schools in Guilford County Schools.
“In the coming weeks as I prepare to transition into this position, I look forward to working with you all and doing everything possible to ensure that we continue the tradition of excellence at Salisbury High.
